Perusall is a free platform for helping us annotate and discuss readings. I’m asking everyone to annotate all readings that are not in the textbook using this platform.
To get started, visit Perusall.com and click “Login” at the top of the screen. Then, click “Register.” After you have entered your email address and verified it, continue with your registration by clicking “Create or Enroll in a Course.” Then, click “I am a student” and enter our course code: ANDERSEN-WZ3VP
Once you’ve finished this enrollment process, you’ll be taken to our course. The first time you access it, a brief tour will pop up explaining some of Perusall’s basic features. The only part of the website you need to worry about is the section marked “Library.” That’s where you’ll find the readings that need to be annotated.
When you open a document in our library for the first time, Perusall will pop up a tour of the annotation features. We can also go over how to annotate readings in class if you have any questions.
In your annotations…
- Please respond to any questions I’ve asked.
- Highlight places in the document that you have questions about or that you feel are important to remember.
- Ask questions of your peers.
- Ask me questions!
- Relate ideas back to other things you’ve been thinking about lately – either events in the news, or discussions you’re having in other classes, or personal events.
- You should make at least five substantial annotations in each document this semester.
